Shaelynn Dowling Memorial Regatta

The Shaelynn Dowling Memorial Regatta is held in loving memory of Shaelynn Elizabeth Irene Dowling, whose passion for sailing, kindness, and vibrant spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

Born on April 1, 2002, Shaelynn was an enthusiastic sailor who spent eight summers participating in the Northern Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program. The water was one of her happy places, and sailing became a significant part of her life, creating friendships and memories that will never be forgotten.

A Grade 12 student at Memorial High School, Shaelynn was known for her creativity and artistic talent. She loved art and drawing, was an accomplished piano player, and enjoyed being a member of her school band. Beyond her many talents, Shaelynn was a caring and compassionate young woman who dedicated her time as a volunteer with St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Summer Camps, where she formed meaningful connections and positively influenced countless children.

Family was at the center of Shaelynn’s life. She cherished spending time with loved ones, attending family gatherings, and sharing her warmth and laughter with those around her. Her kindness, generosity, and gentle nature touched many lives.

This regatta celebrates not only Shaelynn’s love of sailing but also the values she embodied—friendship, community, compassion, and joy. As sailors take to the water in her memory, we honor a remarkable young woman whose legacy continues to inspire the sailing community and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Fair winds and following seas, Shaelynn. You are forever remembered and forever missed.
